Well gang...we have a mystery on our hands. It appears that sometime between November 18th and today the 23rd Timmy has decided to withdraw his funds from within. I took him in for an x-ray today so we could meet with the surgeon before going to Seattle and the cion has mysteriously disappeared. We have been on poo patrol since November 5th and we have not seen it come out but I have to say I am very relieved that it did becuase surgery was not my idea of fun. The last conversation I had with Dr. Gus was that if they had to remove the coin surgically they were also going to take out his appendix just because they could. Well, now that the drama is over we would like wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Not to worry though, I'm sure Timmy will find something else for us to write about in the near future.

Hello all,

We took Timmy in to the surgeon on Monday the 16th and he said that he thinks we should be going to Childrens at OHSU to have him looked at by a Pediatric GI to see what we need to do the coin is still in his stomach and has not moved in three weeks he also wants another x-ray on the 18th. I took Timmy for another x-ray on the 18th and good news more or less the coin is on the move and is now in his small intestine which means it is headed out but can also be considered bad news because we all have a valve with a big fancy name infront of our colon that it can get hung up at. Knowing Timmy it will...which will then require surgery to remove it. When we talked to the surgeon he told us all the things that can go wrong and not alot that could go right. The doctor called on Thursday and has requested that we go in for another x-ray on Tuesday the 24th and another office consult to let us know more about the coin, it's position and what we need to do. (it still involves squishing poo to see if Timmy is no longer collecting interest on his investment) We are still waiting to here from OHSU and are really hoping we don't have to take him in but if the doctors think we do then we do but with the storms going through here right now we really don't want to have to drive through the pass. When we have more imformation we will let everyone know what is going on. Sorry no pictures of the coin are available at this time.

Well...Timmy's at it again. On Novenber 5th he decided it would be neat to swallow a coin of some sort. I called the doctor and they said bring him in for an x-ray so we can make sure it did not go into his lungs, lucky for us and him it did not. The ER doc's said to bring him back in 48 hours if the coin did not pass. Well...it didn't (we know this because we have to dig through the poo every time he goes, gross huh?!) so back to the hospital for more x-rays but with dad this time. Dad comes home and tells me where it is and I told him it had not moved so we called the after hours doctor and it just happened to be ours and she said don't worry, sometimes it can take up to a week. I said okay and she said bring him back for another x-ray on Wednesday, fine I said, so here we are on Wednesday November 11th still without a coin and I took him to the hospital for yet another x-ray only to find that it still has not moved. Our doctor called us tonight to inform us formally that it has not moved and that while swallowing the coin is not a problem the fact that it has not moved in 6 days is. She told us that she will be doing a surgical consult on November 12th since all the doctors had already gone home for the night. So, here we sit and wait to see when and where the adventures of "coin tummy Timmy" take us. Let's hope he learns a lesson from all of this. When we find out more we will post again.

November Storm 09

Here are some pictures of the first real storm of the Fall here in Seaside.

For those of you who have been to our house and to put this in perspective, the post you see in this picture is about 200 to 300 yards from the water line where we normally put our stuff when we go to the beach. Right now the water line is behind this post and the foam you see is as far from green as it can get. It’s brown. (where ever do they get sea foam green from? Because the only sea foam I see is brown). Timmy said to tell you hayyelled here on Thursday night(use a southern accent here, he has one you know) it started around 11:00pm and was really cool like whiteout conditions and Friday night it hit around 11:00 pm and also again at 1:30am We have had heavy rains, high winds, really cool high seas, hail and thunder and lighting that seems to last for hours. (Thunder and lighting are things we don’t normally have here in Seaside but usually hit in the mountains around Svensen which is about 30 to 40 miles North of us.)

The other pictures you see are of the road we usually take to drive on the beach, yes they allow that here and we do take advantage of it when we feel the need to drive on sand instead of pavement. I was taking these pictures and was using the zoom lens thinking how cool are these waves and how cool are they up close in this lens, when I took the camera away and realized that they weren’t that far away from me in fact they were less than 5feet away from me and the foam I saw was really super close to me. I took a few more pictures and got back in the van to hear Timmy telling me to “back up mommy the waves are coming to get us, hurry up mommy back up” I backed up and we left with the waves following us. How cool is that! The surge of the surf is so impressive that I really don’t have any words for it.

You almost have to be here to understand the power of the ocean and how impressive these storms can be. The best I can do to describe it is WOW!!!!!!!! Hope you enjoy these pictures.

A Birthday and Halloween to Boot

It was a really busy Halloween this year. The whole family headed to Grants Pass to visit Uncle Dick and Aunt Gail. A big bonus was that just about the whole family came as well. We got to see Johnny, Kristen, Mike, Lori, Kier, Peg and Ted.

A few other family members were there for Johnny’s FIRST BIRHTDAY Party. It was quite the party and there were plenty of great family moments to go around. Johnny really liked playing with his cousins.

The day was just getting started as every one headed out for a little Trick or Treating after that. The boys enjoyed the way Grants Pass passes out the candy.

To end the busy day we headed to the Church Carnival in downtown GP. The boys loved the games and of course the candy.

The Great Columbia River Crossing

Well since Jay does not want to toot our horn I will do it for me and Timmy.
On October 11th Timmy and I did the Great Columbia Crossing.

This is a 10K walk or run across the Astoria Megler Bridge. We started on the Washington side at the rest area at Dismal Nitch. And yes, it was dismal that day. Dismal Nitch is one mile from the start of the bridge and it took us 20 minutes to do our first mile, 23.22 minutes to do our second mile and at mile marker 3 it was 62 minutes we finished just under the 2 hour mark and amazingly enough I only had to carry Timmy about 4 times and I refused to carry him very far so he basically did the whole walk on his own two feet.

I am so proud of him. That’s a long walk for a 3 ½ year old but he did it and got the shirt to show it.
